They've closed our swimming baths

............. but it won't be for long. When the Gazette reports that tensions are running high in Kirkham it is no exaggeration. This is war.

The baths are part of Kirkham's history and culture. The pool has been used by schools for miles around for many years. We have been told that we can use the pool in St Annes but local children can hardly walk to St Annes on a Saturday morning. We don't want to go to St Annes. We want our own baths back. In any case, it looks like the pool in St Annes is also in very shallow water. Its existence is also threatened.

This report is absolutely right. All children should learn to swim. There is a meeting in our town on Thursday night re our baths. Our baths serves other towns and small villages and has done so for very many years. I learnt to swim there. The property also houses a small Roman museum.
