Fylde Borough Council has confirmed that Kirkham Baths will re-open.
"The Council is working with electrical consultants to address the main Health and Safety issues and re-open the facility to the public.
The main areas of concern have been prioritised and will be addressed with money from the current budget.
Council Leader John Coombes said: "We have seen the strength of feeling on this issue that's why we are pulling out all the stops to re-open the pool as soon as it is safe to do so. I would reassure people that the facility will be safe for use when it re-opens."

Hurrah! Blog power, eh?
Wow! Your Council have responded quickly!
Hope its not just a delay of execution though as sometimes happens.
Hooray……Kirkham gets its baths back :) Every community needs one!
yayy :) and just before u got stinky too :p
Not so much blog power as every kind of power. Everyone has done every thing they can. There was a lot of people at the meeting last night and we are not going to allow them to close the baths until they build us another one. (They haven't got the money to build another one so we can't go off promises. ) All the shops have been involved. Leaflets and posters were put around town. Local councillors wrote letters and went to the MP etc. The borough council were and have been looking for excuses to shut it. Although the baths is old it is still repairable. The cost of the necessary repairs is nothing when you consider the value of the baths to the community.
Pal - I think they realise that they can't close our baths. The community will not allow it. It was built for and given to the community by a millionaire. All we and the borough council have to do is maintain it.
Hey, that's fantastic!!
It's so refreshing to see that public voices still work. Sometimes I think we've all lost our right to be heard. Good job! That's a nice way to start your weekend :)
Good news, good job!
I love that the British call their public pools "baths". It's so Roman.
Although many alterations have been made over the years the baths were original built in 1914. Far too old to be called a pool.
Nearby St Annes has a pool - We have the baths. :-)
Details of opening times and charges for St Annes Swimming Baths and Kirkham Pool can be found using the links to the right.
The above was taken from the borough councils website. They obviously don't know one from the other although they do get it right in the links section.
Took me a bit to realize the baths were swimming pools too ;)
At first, I kept picturing the gay bath houses of old in San Francisco. Quite a site in my wee imagination I must say. That's why I thought you were upset ... and then reason prevailed. lol
